Things are getting exciting here at the farm! We have been busy planting all the hanging baskets, succulents, and perennials! Our seeds for the produce are constantly coming in. The onions have sprouted! This is a good sign. We are so excited!
Deb Davis is a great designer...she takes her art degree and her knowledge of plants and wraps it altogether in her plantings. I'm lucky to have her helping us here at the greenhouse....wait till you see her containers and hayracks!
Our "Master Wookworker" Cullen as he is known to us is currently working on color combinations for the sides and roofs of the birdhouses. I'm sure he wil select colors that will compliments just about anyones yard or home decor. After he is done we will plant flowers in them that compliment his colors.
Be sure to your bring your boxes back each week, it helps keep the cost down for the farm, and you are recycling! The wax boxes should be good for the whole growing season. Another plus!
What is a CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)
It is fresher than anything in the supermarket and that means it is tastier and more nutritious. It is also good for the local economy--buying directly from family farmer helps them stay in business.
- A CSA is a partnership between a farm and a community of supporters directly connecting the farmer who grows the food with the consumer who eats it
- A CSA provides a one-on-one trusting relationship that no amount of labeling or marketing can supply
- A CSA shareholder covers the farm's operating costs by purchasing a share of the season's harvest and receives a weekly box of produce throughout the growing season.
- A CSA subscription decreases the dependence on imported food, creates a sustainable, regional food system, and provides you with great organic food at a fair price.
I saw the cactus plants! Beautiful arrangements, can't wait to buy them!
